Balga SC reserves team progressed to the next stage of the Football West knockout competition in a high scoring affair against Swan United at the Swan Italian Club.

Assistant Reserves Coach Tahir Kulelija is happy about the progression but is looking for improvement from his team. “We’re very happy to progress to the next stage of the Cup competition but we do feel a little disappointed in the way we did it.” he said. “We feel that we conceded a few weak goals and will be working to improve this immediately”.

Balga’s goal scorers include Sam Mizori (2), George Duku, Gabriel Facondini and Omer Ahmed.

In a seesawing affair, in which the lead changed multiple times, it was ultimately a penalty shootout the decided the winner. After saving a few penalties, Balga’s stand in keeper Robert Klenkoski slotted the final penalty for Balga and put them through to Round 1 of the Cup competition.

Robert Klenkoski scores the last penalty to take Balga to the next round.

Balga will next take on another fellow second division side, Quinns FC. The game is scheduled for Easter Monday, 28 March 2016 at St Andrews Park – Moorepark Avenue, Yanchep. The game will kick off at 12:45 PM.

Kulelija is expecting a tough match against Quinns. “Quinns is a good side and is coached well. We know they will be a tough challenge but we will be going into the game confident none the less. We have a very young squad with a lot of potential. We are very confident in these players and their abilities” said Kulelija. “The boys will keep improving and getting better as we go along”.
