Balga SC reserves kick off their 2016 season in the first official match of the year against Swan United. The preliminary round of the State League Cup competition for Balga SC Reserves takes place on 19 March 2016 at the Swan Italian Club.
After a long pre-season Balga SC Reserves Coach Adrian Caloiero is looking forward to the first official game. “Personally I’m very excited about the first official game after a long pre-season. I believe we have assembled a very good squad, mixed with good youth players and some experienced seniors, so personally I can’t wait to see what the boys can do this week.”
The Reserves squad has had a very competitive preseason which saw them take on NPL sides Balcatta SC and Perth SC, Division 1 sides Joondalup United, Canning City and Western Knights as well as Amateur Premier League contenders and past champions North Perth United.
“It is very important for the boys to go out there with the right attitude and be in the right frame of mind. Knowing what our game plan is and keeping to it will be important. I know we can go out there and push Swan United all the way” said Caloiero. “The cup is very exciting, you never know who you will come up against. We will use this game as a stepping stone to help start our season as strong a possible and with a positive result this weekend”.
Caloiero and his assistants will have a full squad to pick from. “We are lucky enough to have a strong group of about 24 players fighting for a spot on the team sheet for this weekend. Normally this would be a headache for any coach but we see this as an excellent result of the work we have been doing in pre-season and the efforts that have been put in place behind the scenes.
