Balga SC Reserves team kicked off their 2016 season with a narrow loss to Quinns FC.
Balga took early charge and produced some promising opportunities however they failed to capitalise on the early dominance and let Quinns back into the game.
Adrian Caloiero was disappointed with the narrow loss but was positive about the performances. “All in all most players performed well. I feel that we really deserved something out of the game” said Caloiero. “Our back line played very well. George Kacurkov and Stefan Scagnetti were solid throughout the match as was George Duku who worked tirelessly in the middfield”.
Quinns scored the only goal of the game just before the half time whistle. Balga was left to rue a missed opportunity to square the affair in the second half from the penalty spot. Quinns keeper pulling of a great save to earn his team the full points.
“This was a good learning curve for some of the young boys that it’s about taking your chances early in the game and that we need to put scoreboard pressure on the opposition” said Caloiero. “We could have killed off the game very early on”.
Caloiero is looking forward to the next game and bettering this weekend’s result. “I know the boys will feel hard done by and will work extra hard this week to get a positive result at Melville”.
