Balga moved to second place after a 3-2 win over rivals Quinns FC at Gumblossom Park. Balga scored after three minutes, when Danny Moss was able to intercept a miss-kicked back pass, and then calmly slotted passed keeper Ellis Compton.
It only took five minutes for Quinns to respond, a corner found Rowdy Yates at the near post who expertly scored pass Balga keeper Jordan Howell. Balga almost re-took the lead after 23 minutes, when Matthew Kerridge’s powerful shot from just outside the box hit the crossbar.
Just two minutes later, Quinns were awarded a dubious penalty, however new signing Scott Bulloch’s spot-kick just went wide of the post. Just prior to half-time, Harry Bissett made it 2-1 for Balga with a low shot to beat Compton.
Quinns started the second half on top, and it took only six minutes for Quinns to equalise when Bulloch just had the keeper to beat, and made no mistake. In the 66th minute, Bulloch made a daring run into the box, but was tackled by Zoran Vrteski. The referee waved away appeals from what looked like a clear penalty.
It was all Balga in the last fifteen minutes as they searched for the winner, Vlad Naumovski had his free-kick hit the cross-bar, before Naumovski got the goal they were after with five minutes to go when he poked a low shot to score against the advancing Compton.
