The women’s team traveled to UWA Sports Park for their game against UWA Green on a very windy afternoon. After losing the toss and kicking into the gale they found themselves 1 goal down after only 6 minutes. The team slowly asserted their authority on the game and equalised through Fatu on the half hour mark. However UWA were causing problems with long clearances, especially form their keeper but the defense and Ruqayah in goals held out. As the game went on, Balga became more comfortable on the ball and found themselves 2:1 up through Josephine.
The second half was all one way traffic as Balga played the ball on the ground with the wind behind them. A second half hatrick to Josephine and a long range rocket from Ubila ensured a convincing 6-1 scoreline at the end of the game. UWA had a last grasp chance to reduce the margin with a long ball over the defense however Balga’s goalkeeper Ruquyah was equal to the challenge with a goal saving tackle.
In their round 6 match Balga welcome Hamersley Rovers SC to Princess Wallington Reserve with the game kicking off at 3PM.
