A 94th minute, injury time, equaliser from Dinko Ahmetanovic rescued a point for Balga SC as they drew 3-3 with Curtin University Football Club on Saturday. Balga now maintaining 3 game unbeaten run. Eddie Tikoft, Khaled Salhah and Nathan Smith all scored for Curtin while Dimce Taneski and Ahmetanovic scored either side of a Kye Middleton own goal for the home side.

Curtin started the better and turned their early dominance into a lead as man of the match Tikoft scored after just 12 minutes from a corner. Curtin did not capitalise further on their dominance and Balga turned up their pressure late in the half as they pushed for an equaliser before the break but Ranjeet Sekhon was a wall in goal for the visitors keeping Curtin in the lead at the half time break.

The second half was brought to life in just minutes as Taneski broke through Curtin’s lines and made it 1-1 inside the opening few minutes. Curtin turned to their bench for some spice as they introduced Salhah for Kristian Beven but it was Balga who took the lead through Middleton’s own goal. With just 10 minutes to play the introduction of Salhah payed off as he buried the ball into the bottom corner of Ollie Rigler’s net to restore parity to the match.

With the game heading into its last few minutes Curtin retook the lead when the impressive Smith bundled his third goal of the season home. It looked like Curtin would take all three points from Brian Burke Reserve for the second season running but Ahmetanovic’s 94th minute free kick cannoned in off the upright to rescue a point for the home side.
