Balga SC continued their winning streak with a convincing win over Curtin University FC. Curtin, unbeaten up until Saturday, were powerless to stop a well organised Balga team.

Balga kicked off the game in bright fashion and were on the board in the 8th minute through Justin Caratozzolo. The lead was doubled just before the half time break when Daniel Nalat dispatched an unstoppable shot from just outside the penalty box leaving the Curtin FC keep stranded on the spot.

Second half began in a somewhat subdued tempo with both teams struggling to trouble the keepers. As the half went on, Balga started to look the livelier and were once again on the board in the 58th minute through Nahom Michael. Curtin FC keeper pulled off a great save to deny a long range shot but was unable to keep Michael out. Michael was once again on the score sheet 5 minutes later to make it 4 nil to the visitors.

Balga continued to pile the pressure against the Curtin defensive lineup. That pressure once again paid off on 72 minutes with Justin Caratozzolo scoring his second for the day.The scoring was rounded off by George Kačurkov from the penalty spot with just minutes remaining in the match.

“Curtin were very competitive on the day” said Nahom Michael, Balga SC attacking midfielder. “I think that the pressure in the midfield from Oggy, Hermon and Daniel was what made the difference for us. Ajri’s runs, from attacking to tracking back were amazing. In the second half I think that we had the better fitness and were able to dominate the game”.

In their next match, Balga SC take on Swan United on Saturday, 7 May 2016 at Princess RD Reserve. One of the early season favourites, Swan United, continue to impress however Michael is confident ahead of the match “Swan is no different to any other team we have played. We have to go in and play our brand of football which so far has worked great for us” he said.
