The Football West Night Series moves into the knock out quarter finals stage. Balga SC will be vying for a semi finals spot against a Division 1 side Shamrock Rovers.

Balga SC head coach Bobby Taneski is not expecting an easy ride to the semi finals and is happy with the underdogs title. “Shamrock will be a tough test for us” he said. “We are looking at this game and are going into it as the underdogs. We have to be honest here and say they are the favourites. A host of experienced players and under John O’Reilly we see them as being very organised.”

Shamrock rovers qualified for the quarter finals as one of 2 best second placed teams in the competition putting 4 away against both Morley Windmills and Ellenbrook United. “What we have to remember here is they are very much like Ashfield, a perennial top 4 side in the first division. You don’t achieve what they have if you are a poor side.” said Taneski.

Taneski remains coy about his teams chances of yet another upset win. “Do we believe we can cause an upset? Well time will tell” he says.

Balga SC take on Shamrock Rovers at 5pm on Sunday, February 28 at Hartfield Park, Hale RD Forrestfield.
