Balga beat Melville City 3-1 at Princess Road Reserve. It was the visitors who hit the front early, Balga keeper Gabriel Makouie came out to meet a ball outside of the 18 yard box and the clearance found Arthur Gaye, who fired home from long-range. But on the stroke of half time, Balga levelled. Lee James’ through ball found teenager George Duku, and he fired home.

The home side opened the second half brightly, and Jimmy Taneski sent Dinko Ahmetanovic in on goal, but he fired over. Balga hit the front when Lee James fired home after the Meville keeper had saved well from Taneski’s lob. Melville were then reduced to ten men when Gaye was sent off and Balga wrapped up the points late with the third goal, James sweetly struck volley flying into the corner of the net.
