The Black and Greens are back in action this Sunday against division 1 side Western Knights at Nash Field.

Bobby Taneski is looking forward to another big challange for his squad “Western Knights will provide a massive test for us in another game to obtain much needed match fitness. We will look to optimise the minutes for all players as we lead up to the Night Series in two weekends time.” said Taneski.

Last week’s match against Joondalup United was contested in very challanging conditions. With the heat playing a big impact from the kick off, Balga’s new look squad made a promising start. Those early oportunities did not eventuate into goals and as is in football, if you don’t punish you will be punished.

Taneski was honest in his assesment of the game “What we witnessed in last weekends friendly is that our fitness levels are very low at present, we missed key moments in the match to capitalise on some good build up play. Our structure suffered at times as we could not recover quickly in our staring positions after losing the ball, hence being punished 4 times.”

Balga recovered from the early setbacks but was left to rue the early misses. The final score remained at 4:3 to Joondalup United.

Balga take on Western Knights on Sunday, January 24.
