On the back of a successful outing last weekend against Western Knights we take on another strong Division 1 side, Canning City, this Saturday from 9am at Liddell Park. It will be the last chance for players to impress the coaching staff and cement their spots before the Night Series competition kicks off.
At Nash Field, the reserves team kicked off the day with an impressive 3:0 win against the first division side. Tahir Kulelija, Reserves team assistant coach was pleased for the team “It was important for all our players to get some match fitness and it’s great to see that some of the work we are doing on the training paddock paying off in competative game situations. The boys did really well and it was positive for us to both not concede and also score a few. We still have work to do but feel that we’re on the right track”.
The reserves team has undergone somewhat of a change with the recruitment of a number of new players to the squad. “We’ve added a number of new players to the squad that we feel will complement the existing structures we put in place last year.” said Kulelija.
It was another strong performance by the first team with the game an evenly contested affair on a very hot and humid day. A number of regular first team players were rested to give new players an oportunity to press their case. In an entertaining game, the first half strike was all that separated the sides at the final whistle with Balga SC winning 1:0.
Balga SC take on Canning City Soccer Club on Saturday, January 30, at Liddell Park, Liddell ST Girrawheen.
