After a strong first competitive match in last week’s Cup competition, the Masters team continued their good form by downing a strong Woodvale FC 3 goals to 1.
Balga started the game off strongly, creating chances early. The pressure on the Woodvale defense paid off on 17 minutes when Anthony Banham was put through on goals, rounding the keeper and putting the ball in the back of the net.
On 25 minutes Woodvale created a promising chance however Mark Higgins in Balga goal was equal to the task and palmed the ball away. Balga’s intensity lifted immediately and they were rewarded straight away with Banham finishing strongly again with another goal to his name.
After the half time interval it was straight back to business for Balga and they were 3 goals to the good not long after thanks to a good finish by Walter Martinez. With a 3 goal lead, Balga’s intensity dropped which allowed Woodvale to get back into the game with a goal but this was as good as it got for the hosts with Balga running out 3 to 1 victors.
This week Balga host Olympic Kingsway SC at Princess Wallington Reserve with the game kicking off at 3PM.
