Balga have won for the first time this season after a 2-1 win against Morley-Windmills at Princess Road Reserve. Morley hit the front after only seven minutes, Grant Mowatt heading home from a corner. The home side levelled on the hour, a free kick was headed goal wards by Kristian Despotovski, the Morley keeper fumbled the ball and Despotovski was quickest to react to score.
The winner came six minutes from time, a corner found Despotovski who headed into the goal mouth and Joaquin Connelly headed home. “We knew coming into the Morley game that we absolutely must win this game. After the draw with Murdoch we knew it was a step in the right direction and all we needed was a win,” Despotovski said. “After a stern talking to at half time from the coach Danny Cain, we knew we had to come out firing, and full credit to the boys who showed real heart and desire to win the game.”
Balga SC Reserves continue their good form with a 2:1 win while the Fee Free Football U18s lost 5:0.
